Rachel Speers, 90, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Friendship Manor in Grinnell. She was born on April 19, 1914, in Marshalltown, Iowa to William and Daisy Dorwin Speers. The family moved to Cedar Falls, where she received her education and graduated from Cedar Falls in 1932. In 1938, she received a teaching certificate from the former Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Following her education she taught in high schools at Oran and Dundee, Iowa. In 1950, she received and LPN degree and worked in the former Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown. She moved to Grinnell in 1962, and was associted with the Heisel Realty Company as a real estate broker. Prior to her retirement she cared for elderly people in their home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Grinnell. There are no immediate survivors, but she is survived by many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
