Margaret Hoffstatter, 81, of Newton and formerly of Grinnell and Montezuma, died on December 7, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12th, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Kirsten Klepfer, First Presbyterian Church in Grinnell, officiating. Pianist will be Mary Fopma. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Visitation with the family present will be held prior to the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the First Presbyterian Church in Grinnell.
Margaret was born on June 18, 1937, in Grinnell the daughter of Frank LeRoy and Leona May Stanley Hoffstatter. Margaret was raised in Grinnell and received her education in the Grinnell School District. Throughout her life she had lived in Grinnell and Montezuma and most recently in Newton. She was a member and a faithful attender of the Grinnell First Presbyterian Church.
Margaret dearly loved her family and friends. She liked to embroider for family members and her hobbies included playing games while living at Windsor Manor in Grinnell. She was a prolific letter writer and enjoyed watching TV programs, including "Touched By An Angel."
She is survived by her sister, Louise Lippmann of Grinnell; two nieces, Susan Slings of Newton and Christina Lemke of Grinnell; and one nephew, Steven Lemke of Smyrna, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin infant sisters, Rose and Ellen; her niece, Tammy Lemke; her great-nephew, Nicholas Lemke; her uncle Lloyd Stanley; and her grandparents.
