Glenn William Phipps was born on June 18, 1958, in Grinnell, Iowa to Bert L. Phipps and Wilma Maxine (Large) Phipps. He was raised in Searsboro and Grinnell respectively, and educated at Sully Schools in Sully. Following his education he worked at Hanner's Truck Stop near Interstate 80 in Grinnell. Shortly after his employment at Hanner's, he began his lifelong career as a truck driver and was most recently employed at Van Wyk Freight Lines and Ryder. He was united in marriage to Terri Schultz on June 26, 1982, at Trinity Lutheran Church north of Malcom, Iowa and the couple made their home in Searsboro. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Jennie, and twin sons, Adam and Joseph. Their marriage ended in divorce but they remained very close. Glenn was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and taking care of his horses. He was a friend of many and a stranger to no one. His family recalled his many trips to Sturgis and how he was able to sit down and visit with several known celebrities such as Jay Leno, Jack Nicholson, Sam Elliott, Peter Fonda and Jesse James. Glenn is survived by his former wife, Terri Phipps of Grinnell; daughter, Jennie (Brad Shook) Phipps of Grinnell and her children, Ethan and Bella Shook; son, Adam Phipps (Sandy Kaisand) of Grinnell and his children, Hailey Poush, Benjamin Poush, and Gabriel Phipps; son, Joe Phipps (Sarica Chhouy) of Grinnell and his children, Alaina Chhouy, Julian Chhouy, and Elijah Phipps; and 3 brothers, David (Mary) Phipps of Searsboro, Duane (Janet) Phipps of Grinnell, Curt (Loretta) Phipps of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bertie, Wade, Danny and Kenneth Phipps.
