Erma Lincoln, age 94, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor Dave Crow officiating. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to the Grinnell United Methodist Church and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared online with her family at www.smithfh.com. Erma Maxine Cox was born on April 5, 1923 in New Sharon, Iowa to Joy Lester Cox and Tressa (Gable) Cox. She was raised in New Sharon and Grinnell, Iowa and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1940. Erma was united in marriage to Roger Lincoln on May 12, 1943 at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell. The couple made their home in Grinnell and were blessed with a son, Kevin and a daughter, Randi. Erma was employed at Swift in Marshalltown, Moorman Feed, North Market, Ben Franklin's and retired from Grinnell College in 1970. She was a long-time member of 79 years at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and volunteered countless hours. Erma loved bicycling around town, attending craft shows, gardening, volunteering, and attending water aerobics classes at Grinnell College. Erma is survived by her son, Kevin Lincoln of Grinnell; daughter, Randi Lincoln of Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughter, Amanda Lincoln of Cedar Falls, Iowa; great grandchildren, Ethan and Madison Roberts of Cedar Falls; and sister, Marjorie (Mac) Isaac of Rancho Cordova, California. Erma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; brothers, Kenneth and Gerald Cox; and sister, Lois Allgood.
