Clarice Mullins, 84, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Grinnell Health Care Center.
A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hazelwood Cemetery Landscaping Fund.
Clarice was born on April 22, 1928, in Sumner, Iowa to William John and Bernice Newton Wittenburg. She attended and graduated from Grinnell High School. She worked at various places, including Grinnell Shoe Factory, Ben Franklin's and later as the store manager for the Delong's Outlet Store.
On May 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Hubert Mullins in Grinnell. Together they raised three children; Linda, Cynthia and Scott.
Clarice enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her job in the family was the seamstress. She made several outfits for her children and took pride in her ability. She was always taking classes to improve her sewing skills. Clarice also taught knitting classes. Her sit-n-knit group would make baby hats and donated them to Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Clarice loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Mullins of Grinnell and Cynthia (John) Little of Grinnell; her son, Scott (Sue) Mullins of Council Bluffs; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Brent) Jansen of Pella, Kisha (Perry) Grant of Ankeny and Angela Little of West Des Moines; three great grandchildren, Ashley Shuey, Brendan Grant and Aidan Grant; and one brother, Wallace Wittenburg of Wyndmere, North Dakota.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Robert Wittenburg and one sister, Betty Rindels.
