Obituary

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2004, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Len Eberhart, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Grinnell, officiating. Organist will be Kathleen McCune. Casket Bearers will be Richard, Don and John Kingery, William Brown, Kyle Pedersen, Jim Onthank, Don Ellis and Rod Boggess. Honorary bearers will be Buzz Dean, George Drabant, Denny Elhard, Neil Johnson, Gene Martinson, Gene McCurry, Frank Reitzler and Jim Van Draska. Burial with military rites will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning 9:00 a.m. on Friday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday. Calvin was born on November 6, 1932, in Hamburg, Iowa to Earl and Martha Armstrong Kingery. He was raised in Hamburg and graduated from high school there. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On January 27, 1962, he was married to Sharon Richman in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell and he worked for General Telephone Company for 37 years. He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Grinnell Eagles. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kingery of Grinnell; one daughter, Sonja (Terry)Morrison of Grinnell; two sons, Eric (Julie)Kingery and Troy (Jennifer) Kingery, both of Grinnell; six grandchildren, Joshua Morrison, Mitchell, Kaylyn, Caleb, Cody and Issac Kingery; two step grandchildren, Joel Morrison and Kari Gosselink; two step great grandchildren, Kaiden and Dalton Gosselink; and his sister, Doris Brown of Blue Springs, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Memorials may be directed to the Grinnell United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Grinnell Regional Medical Center's Building Fund.
