He was born on March 17, 1942, in Gilman, Iowa to Henry and Elizabeth McClean Hauersperger. He was raised near Newburg and attended Newburg schools. On January 12, 1964, he was married to Elizabeth Davis at the Hickory Grove Church near Newburg. The couple farmed near Newburg and in 1987, they moved to Grinnell. He was a custodial supervisor at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. The couple moved to acreage south of Grinnell in 1994. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church and a trustee of the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hauersperger of Grinnell; one son, Henry Hauersperger of Grinnell; one daughter, Christine Stockman of Des Moines; one grandson, Andrew Hauersperger of Grinnell; two step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; and his sister, Henrietta Bogan of State Center. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the Williams Hauersperger Memorial Fund.
