Wilbur Roland Anderson, 99, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Grinnell, Iowa. Born on May 23, 1925, in Harold, Iowa, the son of Clark and Aretha (Shill) Anderson.

Wilbur honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, in the Pacific Theater, where he was part of the QM Truck Company. After returning from the war, Wilbur married Beverly Peterson on December 30, 1950 at Grinnell United Methodist Church. The couple raised two sons, Gerald and David. Wilbur embarked on a successful career as a die setter at Maytag, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement on August 31, 1990.

An avid enthusiast of auctions, NASCAR, and baseball, Wilbur was particularly fond of the Chicago Cubs. He was thrilled to witness the Cubs win the World Series. Additionally, Wilbur enjoyed collecting car and truck banks.

Wilbur is survived by his sons, Gerald (Phyllis) Anderson and David Anderson; three grandchildren, Ben (Angie) Anderson, Eric Anderson, and Nicole Anderson; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Beverly Anderson, his brothers Harold, Everett, Robert, William, and Edgar Anderson, and his sisters Margaret Walker and Lucille Anderson.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, IA. Military Honors will be provided by members of the Iowa Army National Guard.
