Obituary

Vivian See, age 83 of Grinnell, died on Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell and under the care of UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Face masks are encouraged for those attending the service. Interment will be at Westfield Cemetery south of Grinnell. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Vivian's family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Face masks are encouraged for those attending the visitation. Memorials may be designated to the St. Francis Manor Foundation or to UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Hospice, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Vivian's family online at www.smithfh.com. Vivian was born on July 14, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa to Elmer Kahler and Dolly Harper. She was raised in Des Moines and Grinnell, respectively. She graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1955. Vivian was united in marriage to Paul See on January 15, 1956 in Grinnell. Their marriage was blessed with six children: Clifford, Jenny, Joyce, Sue, Rick, and Rod. Vivian worked at several area businesses, including Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Second Mile, Rags to Riches, St. Francis Manor, and Walmart. Vivian's family was her life. She loved being with her grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings. She enjoyed going for coffee and going out to eat, watching western movies, listening to Bluegrass music, and shopping. She will be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord, for being determined, and for the love of her family. Vivian is survived by her five children, Jenny See of Grinnell, Joyce (Steve) Haugsted of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sue Smith of Cedar Rapids, Rick See of Marshalltown, IA, and Rod (Meagan) See of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren, Michael Haugsted, Joey Haugsted, Jacy Saucedo, Nic Smith, Trisha Hodges, Cody Smith, Ryan Smith, Chianne See, Dalton See, Dusty See, Meyer See, Jerrica See, and Hudson See; 5 great grandchildren, Adaya Hodges, Nathan Bass, Aubrey See, Grayson Bishop, and Geovanny Saucedo; and her brother, Bill Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul See in 2010; son, Clifford See in 1969; siblings, Kathy Innis, and Richard Wilson; and her stepfather, Lawrence Wilson.
