She graduated from Hartwick High School on October 1, 1932. Vivian was united in marriage to Robert King on July 28, 1951 at the Hartwick Church. She worked for many years as an Operating Room Technician at Grinnell General Hospital and later was Office Manager for the family business, C & K Transfer until her retirement. Vivian was known for her quick wit, sense of humor, world famous chocolate chip cookies (or, just world famous to her family), and creative sewing ability which included quiggley making parties ("you can never have too many quigglies!"). Her door was always open as was her caring heart. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Vivian is survived by three children: Kathi Rose of Grinnell, Steve King (Bonnie Ryan) of Newton, and Kevin "Bodie" (Anne) King of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren: Shane Rose of Grinnell, Erika (Travis) Hauser of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Tandy (Chad) Sopeland, of Missoula, Montana, Trevor (Hayley) Slycord, of Aurora, Colorado, Whitney (Brian) Hanson of Chicago, Illinois, and Jordan King of Cedar Rapids. In addition, and the light of her life, are twelve great grandchildren: Sara, Paige, Darci and Wyatt Rose, of Grinnell, Avery, Sullivan, and Mason Hauser of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Trent, Logan, Bryce and Blake Sopeland of Missoula, Montana and Charley Slycord of Aurora, Colorado. She is also survived by her siblings: Ross Doty of Brooklyn, Marvin (Mary) Doty of Grinnell, Joan Foster of Cedar Rapids, Lucille (Dick) King of Warracres, Oklahoma, Kay Dieterich of Brooklyn; dear friend, Shirley Nixon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter Karla, and siblings, Daryl Doty, Gladys Palmer, and Dale Doty, and son-in-law, Keith Rose.
