Virginia Lea Morrison Billman, 94, of Grinnell, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23rd, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 22nd, at the Smith Funeral Home and with the Billman family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Hammond Center for Assisted Living at St. Francis Manor. Virginia was born on July 17, 1927, in Grinnell to Robert and Emma (Schmidt) Morrison. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell-Newburg School district, graduating with the high school class of 1944. Following her education, Virginia worked as a waitress, a homemaker and retired from GTE. Virginia was united in marriage to Marvin E. Billman in Marshalltown on March 21, 1948. To this union the couple was blessed with six children: Gary, Larry, Richard, David, Kathryn, and Karen. Virginia was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards and completing puzzles. Virginia is survived by her daughters; Kathy Elliott and Karen Billman, sons; Larry and David Billman, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in December of 2016, and two sons, Gary in August of 1993 and Richard in April of 2012.
