Vickie was born on July 5, 1959, in Grinnell, Iowa to John and Karen Smith Rupe. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools. On June 26, 1981, she was married to William J. Haines Jr by Rev. John Epperson in Grinnell. She was a homemaker, but also had worked for Stadium's Unlimited, Miracle Recreation Company and for Weyrauch's Greenhouse. She enjoyed exercising, walking, country music, raising green plants and flowers and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, William J. (Bill) Haines Jr. of Grinnell; one daughter, Karri Canakes of Waterloo, IA; her parents, John and Karen Rupe of Grinnell; one grandson, Tyler Canakes of Waterloo, IA; and two brothers, John D. Rupe and Allen D. Rupe both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her son, William J. (B.J.) Haines III iin 1988.
