Veda was born on February 24, 1931, in Grinnell, the daughter of Myrle and Blanche Wood Arment. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1949 graduate of Grinnell High School. After high school, she was employed with G.T.E. in Grinnell for several years.
On January 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to Norman G. Reedy, in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in Malcom, where Veda was employed with Dayton's Meat Locker and was actively involved in their farming operation along side her husband. Following the death of her husband in 1982, she began working at Grinnell College Dining Services. She retired from there in 2001 and she then worked part-time for several years in the Human Resources Department at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. In 2014, she moved to Des Moines to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Larry Juhl.
Veda knew the value of hard work and she loved her life on the farm. She enjoyed flowers, tending to her vegetable garden and canning her produce. She also enjoyed reading romance novels and playing a variety of word games. She was an avid fan of Iowa State basketball! Most important, was her love for her family and hosting family gatherings. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the "apples of her eye!" She loved their company and attending all their activities.
Survivors include her four children, Ronald Reedy, Pamela (Larry) Juhl, Debra Nowachek, and Gregory (Kristy) Reedy; eight grandchildren, Jason (Cara) Reedy, Mark Reedy, Jessica Nowachek, Drew Nowachek, Austin Reedy, Megan Reedy, Chantilly Barr, and Brandon (Kari) Juhl; ten great-grandchildren, Sadie, Violet, Nora, and Joseph Reedy, Zachary and Zoey Barr, Kiersten and Keegan Conway, and Tyler and Tanner Juhl; some special people in her life, Anna, Kolton, Grace and Daniel; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman in 1982; her parents; one granddaughter, Nicole Reedy in 2019; a niece, Shirley Winters, and four siblings and their spouses, Dorothy (Don) Niemants, Mildred (Don) Cogley, Eugene (Donna) Arment, and Charles (Katherine) Arment.
