Obituary

Trisha Agnew Dean, 40 of Grinnell died Friday, November 19, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with Deacon Diane Eberhart officiating. Music will be provided by Kathy and Andrea O'Connor. Pallbearers will be Brian Crawford, Mark Guthrie, Mike Hasselbrink, Eric Kingery, Dale Lohse, David Richman, Todd Schmidt, and Steve Schultz. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home and where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Trisha Agnew Dean Memorial Fund. Trisha was born May 6, 1964, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Robert E. Agnew and Judith Richman Agnew. She lived in Iowa City until the age of 3 when she moved to Grinnell, where she attended school and graduated in 1982. She attended UNI following graduation and graduated from cosmetology school in Iowa City in 1983. She received her teaching certificate from DMACC in May, 2004, and had planned to continue her education towards her teaching degree through Buena Vista College. She was currently a paraprofessional at Grinnell Middle School. In 1985, she was married to Christopher Sears in Grinnell and they had two children. They were divorced in 1995. In May 2001, she was married to Eric Wayne Dean in Grinnell. She loved her family and friends, animals, and children. She was especially happy with her position at the middle school where she worked with young people. She loved music, playing cards and games, crossword puzzles and playing golf. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. Survivors include her husband, Eric of Grinnell; two children, Emily Ann Sears, 15, and Jacob Alan Sears, 11, both of Grinnell; her parents of Montezuma; one brother, Robert Jay Agnew and his wife, Heather and their children, Trevor and Meghan of Cedar Rapids; her father and mother-in-law, Carroll 'Buzz' and Phyllis Dean of Grinnell; a sister-in-law, Susan Dean of Des Moines; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
