Travis Muckler, age 40 of Grinnell, died on Monday, December 7, 2020 at his residence in Grinnell.
A private family service will be held on a later date. Travis Aaron Muckler was born the son of Greg and Janet (Fleener) Muckler on January 25, 1980 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1998. He attended Grinnell College, graduating with the class of 2005.
Following graduation, Travis moved to Durham, North Carolina and was employed by Valassis Communications. Travis returned to Grinnell and furthered his education at Grinnell College, graduating with a degree in Philosophy. While in college, he enjoyed his college internship with District Judge Henry T. Wingate in Jackson, Mississippi. Travis was a Trial Assistant for The Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm in New York City following his college graduation. Throughout his life, Travis was employed by several local businesses including Pagliai's Pizza, Saint's Rest, and Miraco.
Travis spent many hours of free time fishing and especially enjoyed the many dogs that entered his life by way of family and friends. In recent years, his enjoyment came from conversations with friends at the coffee shop, during car rides, or sitting on a bench in downtown Grinnell.
Travis is survived by his parents, Greg and Janet Muckler of Grinnell; his siblings, Jennifer (Kevin) McAlexander of Grinnell and their children Isaiah, Parker, and Ella, and Jeremy (Cigi) Muckler of Grinnell and their children Cooper and Palmer. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Lyle and Saundra Muckler and maternal grandparents Ralph and Dorothy Fleener.
The Muckler family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the support and concern that the community demonstrated toward Travis. We know many efforts were made to change his circumstances and improve his quality of life.
