Tom L. Carlson passed away at the age of 69 on Monday September 24, 2018, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo, Iowa. A visitation and luncheon will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Victor, Iowa. A small service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Interment will be held at a later date at the Ohio Cemetery south of Ladora. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Marengo Dialysis unit or the National Kidney Foundation, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa, 52347. Tom was born to Folke and Clara Rauch Carlson on November 27, 1948 at the Belle Plaine Cornbelt Hospital. He attended a one room school, Hartford #8, northeast of Victor not far from the family farm and graduated from HLV Community High School in 1967. He was employed at Amana Refrigeration for 4l years retiring in 2008. He also worked at the Brooklyn Golf Course and the DP Lounge in Victor for many years. Among his hobbies were fishing, hunting, bowling, golf, pool, rolle bolle, poker and casino. Tom is survived by his sister Donna (Frank) Robinson and sons Rick (Sheila), Tony (Robin) and Mark as well as his brothers Robert (Betty) and Wayne (Mildred). He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Floris Swender, Elsie Helms, Marilyn McCammon and Treva Gorch as well as brothers Edwin and Harold. He also leaves 27 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
