Tim Woody, 57, of Grinnell passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. He was born November 12, 1955, in Newton, Iowa. The son of Rex and Dora Mae Johnson Woody. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. Tim was united in marriage to Mary Whannel Woody on September 13, 2008. One of his biggest joys in life was his grandson Spencer, whom he adored and spent countless hours enjoying. Tim also had great interest in music, fishing, reading and playing with his beloved dogs. He is survived by his wife, Mary Whannel-Woody, his daughter Holly (Chad) Lepley of Grinnell, his grandson Spencer Lepley and his daughter Christine Woody. Tim is also survived by his sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Deppe , Jane (Mike) Patterson, Sally Hotchkin, Pat (Dennis) Farland and one brother Joel (Melinda) Woody, his brothers-in-law Mike Sullivan and Dennis Whannel and his sister-in-law Betty (Ike) Campbell, and 57 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Tommy; a sister Ruth; and his brother-in-laws Johnnie Whannel Jr. and Van Hotchkin. As was Tim's wish, his body has been cremated. A "Celebration of Life" will be held at the Grinnell Eagles on January 26, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us His timing is the best.
