Tom was born on August 27, 1926 in Lockwood, Missouri to Elmer and Helen Morrison Mills. He was raised in Lockwood and graduated from Lockwood High School in 1944.
After high school, Tom entered the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. General George M. Randall in the South Pacific as Apprentice Seaman and was discharged as a 3rd Class Baker in 1947. Following the service he moved to southern California and worked for Southern California Edison as an accountant supervisor for 36 ' years.
Tom was united in marriage to Anna Marie Evans on November 20, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada. After their retirement the couple moved to Oregon where they lived for the next 14 years before moving to Iowa in 1999. Tom was an avid bowler and participated in two senior leagues and also on a travelers bowling club. He enjoyed wood carving of wildlife, but was most proud of carving out his own hand. He also enjoyed making his own wine
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mills of Guernsey, Iowa; his children, Betsy Lynne (John) Randolph of Medford, Oregon; and Mark Allen of Monrovia, California; his step children Kevin (Sherri) Irwin of Story City, Iowa, Deborah Sue (Michael) Govero Cox of Visalia California, grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Miller, Martin (Wilma) Mills, Bryan Obando, Daniel (Kerri) Navvaro, and Nicole (Joel) Piller, step grand children Meghan Cox, Caitlyn Cox, Christopher Irwin, and Kevin Irwin, Jr. his seven great-grandchildren and one step great grand child
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Eugene and Elmer JR. Mills; his son Thomas Mills; and his daughter Lora Lee Mills, and one step son Richard Irwin.
