Terry
Warnick
April 27, 1956 – July 4, 2025
Terry Warnick, 69, of Marengo and formerly of Victor, died on Friday, July 4, 2025, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor. A private family graveside service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Victor.
Memorials may be designated to University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, IA 52347. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family online at www.smithfh.com.
Terry was born on April 27, 1956, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Leo Claire Warnick Jr. and Annetta (Hawkins) Warnick. He was raised on the family farm north of Victor and graduated with the Class of 1974 from HLV High School in Victor.
On June 20, 1981, Terry was united in marriage to Julia Marie Bayer at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Victor. The couple made their home on the Charles Ranfeld farm near Victor, where Terry worked faithfully for Charles for over 40 years. In 2024, Terry and Julia moved to Marengo.
Terry had a deep love for the outdoors and all things camo—right down to their bedspread. He had a special place in his heart for animals, even raising pet raccoons over the years. He enjoyed antiquing and traveling with Julia, with favorite trips including Hawaii, Washington State, Maryland, and Branson, Missouri.
A passionate bowler, Terry looked forward to bowling league nights on Wednesdays and Fridays in Marengo. He also enjoyed friendly competition over a game of dominoes, where he was known to play a "mean" hand. Terry will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his love of nature and animals, and his enduring strength through adversity.
Terry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Julia Warnick of Marengo; their daughter, Renée (Diedrich) Maas of Fort Polk, Louisiana and their children, Maddie and Dexter; his siblings, Nancy (Mark) Luepke of Clinton, IA, Jerry (Arlene) Warnick of Victor, Larry (Jan) Warnick of Victor, Gary Warnick of Victor, and Jeanne (Tim) McAdam of Fairfax, IA; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
