Terry R. Thompson, 59, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A memorial gathering with the family present will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday with Jean Bauer, chaplain of the Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, officiating. Memorials may be directed to PALS or to COPD Foundation and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Terry was born on October 3, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa to Bob and Betty Shepherd Lindsey. She was raised in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. Terry lived in Des Moines and operated Cleanest Cleaning Company. Later, she worked in the telecommunications industry. She moved to the Lake Rathbun area before moving to Grinnell in 2001. She was married to Douglas Thompson on June 29, 2001. Terry enjoyed reading, social media and attending COPD support group meetings. She was an avid animal lover and especially enjoyed her pet dogs, cats and horses. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Thompson of Grinnell; her children, Scott (Tammy) McDaniel of Maxwell and Steve (Nichole) McDaniel of Marshalltown, Jennifer (Steve) Harding of Drummond, OK and Douglas (Marilyn) Thompson Jr of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters, Tammy Rulon of Des Moines and Christy McCullough of Des Moines; and one brother, Bob Lindsey Jr. of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Brian Kirkpatrick.
