Susan Jean Vos, 61, of Grinnell died on October 2, 2021, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor Joel Koepp, of Grinnell Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation hours will be held at the Smith Funeral Home Thursday October 7, 2021, starting at 12 pm with family present from 4 pm – 7 pm. A luncheon will follow the service at the Grinnell Eagles Lodge. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery south of Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Alzheimer's Association and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Susan was born on January 22, 1960, in Grinnell to Larry and Maridean Tharp. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell-Newburg School district, graduating with the high school class of 1978. Following her education, Susan was employed with Donaldson Co. for thirty plus years. After retirement she worked for the Grinnell-Newburg School District and Mayflower Community. Susan was united in marriage to Curtis Vos in Grinnell on April 18, 1981. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters: Cassandra and Jenna. The marriage later ended in divorce. Susan was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed walking, camping at the Iowa State Fair, and spending time with family and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her independence, selflessness, hard work, and most importantly the love for her family. Susan is survived by her daughters, Cassandra (Cory) Geerts and Jenna Tanner; grandchildren, Kaiden Breckenridge, Kamryn Hillier, and Lydia Tanner; sisters, Janice Tharp, Diana Fenner, Patricia (Alan) Cook, and Deborah (Jim Stevenson) Tharp; one uncle, Jim (Linda) Hotchkin; and one aunt, Martha Meredith. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Ed Fenner.
