Stephen was born the son of Lester Edwin Harris and Beulah Maxine Matherly Harris on September 22, 1954, in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Grinnell. Stephen honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1973 - 1976. He was united in marriage to Amanda Schultz on June 27, 1976, at the Trinity Lutheran Church north of Malcom, Iowa. To this union were born their children Jeremy, Heather and Kati. The couple resided in Grinnell and Stephen worked at Jeld-Wen Windows in Grinnell from 1981 - 2006. Stephen's family was his life. He was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and he enjoyed watching NASCAR races, especially his favorite driver #88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He looked forward to attending the Knoxville Nationals in August. His enjoyments included fishing, painting pictures, downloading and listening to music on his computer, having a cup of coffee with his friends, and held a special love for his dog Maynard. Stephen is survived by his wife of 32 years, Amanda Harris of Grinnell; his children, Jeremy (Gretchen) Harris of Des Moines, Iowa, Heather (Ray) Watkins of Grinnell, and Kati (Gabe) Fontinel of rural Grinnell; 5 grandchildren; his brothers, Raymond (Kathy) Harris of New Virginia, Iowa, Bill (Gladys) Harris of Newton, Iowa, Bob (Lisa) Harris Chickamauga, Georgia, and Ronnie (Linda) Harris of Osceola, Iowa; and his sisters, Perry Ann Hinshaw of Abilene, Texas, and Agnes Stadnick of Newton.
