Sharon (Airey) McBroom, 57 of Chatsworth, GA and formerly of Oxford, IA, died on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Visitation with the family present will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. A face covering will be required for those attending the visitation and funeral service. Memorials may be designated to Poweshiek County 4H and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Sharon Lee Airey was born the daughter of William and Ruth Ann (McDonald) Airey on June 19, 1963 in Marshalltown, IA. She was raised on the family farm in Marshall County, Iowa and graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1981. She received her nursing degree from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. Sharon was united in marriage to Duane McBroom on March 14, 2003 in Iowa City, IA. The couple lived in Iowa City and later moved to Chatsworth, GA. Sharon's enjoyments were reading and gardening. She will be remembered for her love of horses and her passion to help others. Sharon is survived by her husband, Duane McBroom of Chatsworth, GA; mother, Ruth Airey of Oxford, IA; two brothers, Lynn Airey of Iowa City and Mervin Airey of Oxford; three sisters, Linda Airey of Iowa City, Judy (John) Schwab of Tiffin, IA, and Evelyn Airey of Tiffin; and a stepdaughter, Stephanie, and her family. She was preceded in death by her father, William Airey.
