Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Kuhnle will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2004, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor with the Rev. Douglas Morten, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Marengo, officiating. Organist will be Verabeth Bricker. Pallbearers will be Mark and Rod Cooling, David and Dennis Doehrmann, Steve Niemeyer and Gary L. Timm. Burial will be in the Genoa Bluff Cemetery in rural Iowa County. Memorial contributions may be directed to Selma C. Kuhnle Memorial Fund. The daughter of John C. and Emma L. Bollenbacher Conrad, she was born June 7, 1913, in Sumner Township, Iowa County, Iowa. She was raised in Sumner Township and received her education in country schools near her home. She was married to Edwin H. Kuhnle February 23, 1933, at the Trinity Lutheran parsonage at Conroy, Iowa. The couple lived in Conroy prior to moving to a farm north of Ladora in 1940. They later moved to Ladora in 1969. She was a farm wife and homemaker, and also had worked part-time for the South Amana Bakery, Pioneer Hybrids in Marengo, and later as a cook for the Ladora School District. Following the death of her husband in 1984, she had lived in the Ladora, Marengo and Victor Senior Housing and had been a resident of Rose Haven since 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Cooling of Victor and Donna Doehrmann and her husband, Eldon of Williamsburg; one son, Wayne Kuhnle and his wife, Karen of Ladora; one sister, Mildred Fuller of Marengo; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Dwayne; one grandson, Jonathan Doehrmann; one son-in-law, Darol Coolin; and three sisters, Marie Finley, Irma Wiedemeier, and one in infancy.
