Obituary

Scott E. Sadler, 54, of Grinnell, died on Friday, November 24, 2017, at his home of natural causes. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rhonda Minner officiating. The Sadler family will be present one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Scott Sadler Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Scott was born on August 18, 1963, in Iowa City, Iowa to David and Sheila Thomas Byers. He was later adopted by Russ Sadler. Scott was raised in Montezuma and graduated from Montezuma High School with the Class of 1982. Following his education, he worked for Victor Plastics, ADM of Brooklyn and Priority Plastics of Grinnell. He was united in marriage to Michelle Lacy in Grinnell and to this union was born one son, Matthew. The couple lived in Armstrong, Iowa, where he worked for a tiling company. Following his divorce from Michelle, he moved to Grinnell and worked for C & K Transfer and JELD WEN Corporation. Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, frisbee golf, socializing with friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his son, Matthew (Kamela) Sadler of Fairmont, MN; his step-son, Michael (Tonya) Cole of Estherville, IA; six grandchildren; his parents, Russ and Sheila Sadler of Girnnell; his sister, Deb Sadler of Grinnell; two step brothers, Doug Sadler of Sioux Falls, SD and Greg (Denise) Sadler of Grinnell; and his niece, Kali Shook of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his father; one granddaughter, and one step-brother, Steve Sadler.
