Sarah was born the daughter of Frank and Anna Wherry Benesh on May 11, 1923, near Guernsey, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm near Guernsey and educated at Guernsey schools. ' She was married to Donald R. Michalek on June 7, 1941, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Kirksville, Missouri. To this union were born their children, David, Daniel, Diana, Douglas and Susan. The couple farmed together east of Victor for much of their lives. llowing their retirement the couple moved to Victor in 1976. ' Sarah was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor. Her children and grandchildren brought her much joy and happiness. She looked forward to family gatherings, where she would show her talents of being an excellent baker and cook. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery, sharing these heirlooms with her family. Sarah had a green thumb, spending many hours landscaping and tending to her flowers. She loved the outdoors, watching her feathered friends, and held a special love for her furry companion "Puddin." Sarah is survived by her children, David (Becky) Michalek of East Moline, Illinois, Daniel (Mary) Michalek of Bettendorf, Iowa, Diana (Robert) DeMeyer of Davenport, Iowa, Douglas (Susan) Michalek of Victor, and Susan Michalek and her husband Mark Harrison of Minneapolis, Minnesota, fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and her brother Loyal Benesh of Brooklyn, Iowa. Sarah passed away Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell. She was eighty-three years of age and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald on September 19, 2001; and her sister Dorothy Benesh.
