Sandra Kay
Moranville
June 5, 1954 – January 27, 2026
Sandra Kay Moranville, 71, of Malcom, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Sandra was born on June 5, 1954, in Illinois. She was raised in Grinnell, Iowa, by her mother and stepfather, Jaunita and Victor Vulysteke, and attended Grinnell schools. During her senior year of high school, her family moved to Moline, Illinois, where Sandra graduated.
Following her education, Sandra built a strong work ethic and a long career in manufacturing and administrative roles. She was employed by Amana Refrigeration, later served as a supervisor at DeLong's, and most recently worked at Brownell's, where she worked as an export coordinator.
Sandra had a deep love for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading, cooking, birdwatching, and faithfully watching her favorite television show, Supernatural. Above all else, family was the center of her world. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished time spent with her loved ones. One of her most treasured recent memories was attending her granddaughter Gabbi's wedding in Pella, an occasion that brought her great joy.
Those who knew Sandra will remember her as selfless, caring, and deeply family-oriented, with a stubborn streak and traditional values that defined her strength and loyalty.
Sandra is survived by her children, Jennifer Gunderson and Jeremy (Katie) Moranville; her sisters, Vickie Chez and Cindy Murphy; and her grandchildren, Gage (Brialy Carlson) Gunderson, Gabi (Tanner) Hoffstetter, Kenna Moranville, Caleb Moranville and Camron Negrete.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Trudy Schwartfeger and Rachel Noel.
No services are scheduled. Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
If desired, memorial contributions may be designated to the family and will be dispersed to organizations near and dear to Sandra. Memorials may be mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
