Sandra Arnold, age 71 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and formerly of Victor, died on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids. A private family graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Memorials may be designated to St. Bridget Catholic Church and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, Iowa 52347. Sandra Kay Van Hamme was born the daughter of Raymond August Van Hamme and Ardis Marie (McKusker) Van Hamme on May 10, 1948 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in Victor and graduated from HLV High School in Victor with the class of 1966. She attended Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College in Des Moines. Sandra was united in marriage to Kenneth Simmons on August 24, 1996 in Des Moines, Iowa. Their marriage later ended in divorce. She was married to Ivan Arnold on February 21, 1981 in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines all of their married lives. Sandra worked in the payroll and accounts payable departments at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for 15 years and later worked at Wellmark in Des Moines for 9 years. Sandra held a passion for music, and she was active in several Christian singing groups in Des Moines. She was a big Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. She will be remembered for her quirky wit that made everyone laugh and for the love of her family. Sandra is survived by her daughter, Tonya Goeser of Harlan, Iowa; two sisters, Marie Louis of Leon, Iowa and Mary (Ron) McDonald of Maquoketa, Iowa; brother-in-law, Tony Schirmer of Vinton; sister-in-law, Donita Van Hamme of Victor; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin daughters, Amanda and Andrea Arnold in infancy; two sisters, Linda Van Hamme and Alice Schirmer; and a brother, John Van Hamme.
