Ruth was born the daughter of Clarence and Grace Hall Olson on January 16, 1921 on the family farm near Malcom, Iowa. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Malcom High School.
Ruth was united in marriage to Harvey J. Tindle on September 13, 1941 in Montezuma, Iowa. To this union was born their son Steve. The couple farmed near Malcom and later moved into Malcom. The couple farmed for 47 years before retiring in 1988. Following the death of her husband, Ruth moved to Grinnell in 1993.
She was an active member of the Malcom Methodist Church. She was a 4H Leader for 12 years and a former election official in Malcom for several years. The couple actively volunteered in Malcom in their later years. Her enjoyments included family, friends, sewing, gardening, cooking, and canning.
Ruth is survived by her granddaughter Sara (John) Thompson of Grinnell; 2 great grandsons, Jesse and Shane Thompson of Grinnell; her brother Lloyd (JoAnn) Olson of Brooklyn, Iowa; her sister Norma (Jim) Sherwood of Belle Plaine, Iowa; her sister-in-law Ella Mae Olson of West Liberty, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harvey J. Tindle; her son Steve Tindle; and her brother Gerald Olson.
