Ruth was born on March 2, 1915, in Grinnell, Iowa to Alfred P. Windahl and Bonnie (Easter) Windahl. She was raised and educated in Searsboro and graduated from Searsboro High School with the class of 1933. Ruth was united in marriage to Carl E. Rohr on August 10, 1936, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two sons, Gerald in 1937 and Gene in 1940. They resided in Corning and Carroll, Iowa, respectively, before moving back to Searsboro in 1950. They resided on the family farm where Ruth grew up and farmed the land from 1950-1955. In 1970, the couple built a new home at Rock Creek Lake where they lived for 15 years. They had a small boat on the lake and enjoyed many summer evenings of fishing. Ruth was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell. Ruth is survived by her husband of 71 years, Carl Rohr of Grinnell; her sons, Gerald (Rosemary) Rohr of Anamosa, Iowa, and Gene Rohr of Grinnell; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Ruth was 93 years of age and was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Lucille Hudnutt. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ruth M. Rohr Memorial Fund.
