Ruth Martin, 95, of Grinnell passed away peacefully March 28, 2022, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, IA.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with burial at Westfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the 4-H building of the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds following the burial.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Smith Funeral Home starting at 2:00 PM with family present from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Ruth Criswell was born April 28, 1926, the daughter of Elmer and Linda (Tuggle) Criswell in Lynnville, IA. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell High School.
On February 7, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to Fred Martin in Lancaster, MO. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids then to Deep River before returning home to Grinnell in 1953 to raise their family. Ruth was employed as a housekeeper for Grinnell Regional Medical Center and a nurse's aide for the Mayflower Community. She also assisted her husband, Fred, with bookkeeping for Martin Plumbing & Heating.
Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother and a devoted Christian. She was a member of the Northside Friends Church and the Nazarene Church in Grinnell where she assisted in Sunday school and bible school classes.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Roger) Loftin of Malcom, Anna (Mike) Campbell of Grinnell, and Mark Martin of Grinnell; siblings, Analee Horstmann, Audrey Brand, Denny (Cecelia) Criswell, David (Algonda) Criswell, and Kathy (Tunis) VanNorden; sister-in-law, Judy Criswell; son-in-law, Jim Hoffstetter; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; daughters, Betty (Burns) Logan and Carolyn Hoffstetter; siblings Anita Fraker, Ada Sumpter, Herman Criswell, Paul Criswell, Edith Barkley, Curly Criswell, Audeen Thompson, and Eldon Criswell.
