Obituary

Rosemary Louise (Puls) Rook, 79, of Grinnell, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center ICU. As per Rosie's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A private family interment will be held at a later date at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In Rosie's memory, memorial contributions may be designated to the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (P.A.L.S.) and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Rosemary "Rosie" was born March 26, 1943, to John and Evelyn (Doud) Puls in Grinnell. She attended country school from kindergarten - 8th grade and she graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1961. Rosie honorably served her country in the United States Army and served at the Pentagon. She then worked for the United States Department of Agriculture in Denver, Colorado. She returned to Grinnell in 1971 and was employed at GTE for several years. Rosie married Dennis (Denny) Rook in 1975. Although the marriage ended in divorce, they continued to be lifelong friends. Rosie was an exceptional secretary with superior typing skills! She worked for the Bierman, Shield, and Manly law offices in Grinnell and ended her career with Poweshiek Abstract Company in 2015. Rosie was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling with her sisters, and loved her TV! Rosie had a great sense of humor and a fun-loving, silly personality. She brought much joy and happiness to her family and earned the title of "Favorite Aunt" to all her nieces and nephews! Rosie is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Jim) Baehr; her stepsons Michael (Sydney) Rook and Terry (Tamara) Rook; her siblings, Dick Puls, Joe (Jo Anne) Puls, Joy (Jim) Pefferman, Mary Peters, Tim (Pam) Puls, David Puls; 16 nieces and nephews; and many grand nieces and nephews. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Kathleen Lynette Puls and Patricia Ann Roach; her brother-in-law, Bert Roach; and sisters-in-law, Karen (Dick) Puls and Denise (David) Puls.
