Rosemary Kibbee, 95, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, July 2, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home – Grinnell. Family will receive friends for a visitation held one hour prior to the start of the service beginning at 10:00 AM at Smith Funeral Home – Grinnell. A reception will follow the service at Smith Funeral Home. Private family burial will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be designated to St. Francis Manor Foundation and mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Rosemary was born on March 25, 1929, in Brooklyn, IA, the daughter of Raymond and Rose LaKose. Her early education took place in a country school house until the 8th grade.
Rosemary was united in marriage to Earl Kibbee on March 23, 1947. The couple was blessed with four children, Dick, Tom, Becky, and Troy.
Rosemary dedicated 26 years of her life as a seamstress at Delong's. Her passion for sewing extended beyond her professional life into her personal time, often sewing and ironing for friends and family.
In addition to her work, Rosemary lived a life full of adventure and joy. She shared a love of motorcycle riding with her late husband, Earl Kibbee, and was proud to have obtained her semi-truck driving license. Above all, Rosemary was devoted to her family, taking great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's accomplishments and milestones.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Becky (Ron) Harter of Grinnell, IA and Troy (Debi) Kibbee of Omaha, NE; her brothers, John LaKose of Brooklyn, IA, and Michael (Patricia) LaKose of Ft. Wayne, IN; her sister-in-law, Joyce LaKose of Clear Lake, IA; her daughter-in-law, Linda Kibbee of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Justin Harter, Amber Jaworski, Tyler Harter, Brandon Kibbee, Jaicy Scaggs, Jay Kibbee, Kelly Eden, and Tim Kibbee; along with 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; her sons, Dick and Tom Kibbee; her brother, Robert LaKose; and her sister-in-law, Grace LaKose.
