Ronald G. Reedy, 67, formerly of Malcom, IA passed away March 18, 2023 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines, IA.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery following the service, with a luncheon following the burial at the Malcom Legion.
A visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 am.
Memorials may be designated to the Ronald G. Reedy Memorial Fund in c/o Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Ronald was born on August 16, 1955 to Norman and Veda (Arment) Reedy at St. Francis Hospital in Grinnell. He was raised on a farm outside Malcom and graduated in 1973 from BGM High School. Ronald then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 1977. He then returned to Malcom to raise his family. Ronald farmed, raised livestock, worked in ag until he decided to return to college earning his Registered Nursing degree in 1989. He continued to work on the farm and work in nursing until his retirement.
Ronald enjoyed fishing, cheering on the Cyclones, hunting, raising livestock, and taking care of people. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings. Family and friends were important to Ronald.
He is survived by his sons, Jason (Cara) Reedy and Mark (Anna Wagner) Reedy; his grandchildren, Sadie, Violet, Nora, and Joseph; and his siblings, Pam (Larry) Juhl, Deb Nowachek, Greg (Kristy) Reedy, and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter Nicole Reedy.
