Ronald Wayne Lacy, of Des Moines, IA and formerly of Grinnell, IA, died on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.
Ronald was born, September 18, 1948, in Grinnell to Ted and Mary Lacy. He attended Grinnell High School and later enlisted in the Navy, serving his country with dedication. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for music, becoming a skilled musician known for his versatility with various instruments. Ronald was a prominent bass player and a member of several bands, including the Lacy Brother's Band, Country Wind, and Just Country. His musical talents brought joy and entertainment to many.
Beyond his musical endeavors, Ronald was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, river trips to northern Iowa, and riding his cherished Norton 850 motorcycle. His hobbies also included watching westerns, gardening, and engaging in creative activities like drawing and whittling wood. Ronald was known for his generous spirit, often sharing his love of music with his grandchildren and hosting jam sessions for family and neighbors at his home.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Dudley; girlfriend, Debbie Moraine; grandsons, Jacob Lacy and Jesse (Angel) Dudley; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Rosie, Vergil, and Leya; siblings, Christy (Bill), Beth (Richard), Michelle, Randy (Connie), and Gary (Linda); and many nieces and nephews that spent time with him at his home and outings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mary; son, Russell; and his brother, Bill.
Smith Funeral Home is assisting with cremation, and services are pending to honor and celebrate Ronalds Life.
