Ronald was born on February 17, 1926 in Sidney, Iowa to George and Winifred Proctor Grandstaff. He moved to Grinnell with his family and attended Grinnell schools. During World War II he served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific Theatre. After the war he returned to Grinnell and worked for various auto dealers and the Farmhand Company. He also worked as a pipefitter for Husky Oil in California and Wyoming. He resided in Oskaloosa prior to his death.
He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed animals and music. He played guitar with 'Ron and the Ramblers' when he was younger.
Survivors include his children, Diane Grandstaff, Randy Grandstaff and Megan Mart, all of Grinnell, Dan Grandstaff of Mason City, Bill Grandstaff of Lehigh, Florida and Mike Grandstaff of Marshalltown; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Claudine Koger of Wheatland, Wyoming, Shirley Harter of Montezuma and Mary Curry of Deep River.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; one brother, Gene Grandstaff; and one sister, Virginia Prusha.
