Roger "Pete" Peters, 80, of Grinnell died on March 4, 2019, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A private family graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Roger was born on April 9, 1938, on the family farm north of Montezuma, the son of Earl Raymond and Lois Holmes Peters. He later moved with his family to a farm near Newburg and attended Newburg High School.
On December 28, 1956, he was united in marriage with Carol Emmert, at the Grinnell First Friends Church. The couple farmed southeast of Grinnell where they raised three children. Roger retired from farming in 2000 and they moved to Grinnell in 2006 prior to moving to Seeland Park in Grinnell in 2017. They enjoyed vacationing in Arizona and Texas during the winter.
Roger was a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, the Farm Bureau, and was active as an assistant 4-H leader. He enjoyed his life on the farm, raising cattle and hogs, their card club, and gardening. He loved flowers and homemade ice cream! He held a passion restoring a replica of his 1956 Dodge D500 Lancer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Grinnell; three children, Rick (Lesa) Peters of Grinnell, Kristi (Travis) Hammond of Haslet, Texas, and Kelly (Jess) Podrazo of Murdock, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Erica (Kenny) Hoth of Grinnell, Andy Peters of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Mike Peters of Grinnell, Whitney (CJ) Green of Fort Worth, Texas, Emily Hammond of Haslet, Texas, Louie and Lizzie Podrazo of Murdock, Nebraska; four step-grandchildren, Nick Roland of Grinnell, Will Roland of Eldon, Tessa Roland of Buffalo, New York and Leah Roland of Omaha; five great-grandchildren, Riley Peters, Audrey Gray, Alex, Christian and Brendon; four step-great-grandchildren, Ethen Roland, Delanie and Jack Roland and Charlotte Parrin; and one sister-in-law, Betty Peters of Huxley. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Peters.
