Roger was born on October 26, 1919, in Grinnell, Iowa to David and Ida Doud Lincoln. He was raised in Grinnell, attended Grinnell schools and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1938. During World War II he served with the U. S. Army's Medical Corp in the South Pacific. On May 12, 1942, he was married to Erma Cox at her parent's home near Grinnell. Roger and Erma lived in Grinnell following their marriage and he worked for Halstead Brother's Trucking Company and for Moorman Feed Company. In 1964, he began a 20 year career with the City of Grinnell, where he worked in the Public Works Department. Following his retirement he worked in various departments for the Wal-Mart Store in Grinnell. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Grinnell and the Grinnell Softball Association. As a member of the Grinnell Softball Association, he was very involved in the construction of the baseball/softball diamond at Merrill Park. Roger enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He played and umpired slow-pitch softball in Grinnell for many years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Survivors include his wife, Erma Lincoln of Grinnell; one son, Kevin Lincoln of Grinnell; one daughter, Randi Lincoln of Des Moines; and one granddaughter, Amanda Lincoln of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Albert, William, Harry and Virgil Lincoln; and four sisters, Mae McCurry, Betty Hoff, Ida Lavena Hoffstetter, and Grace Lincoln.
