Obituary

Robert Alan Teed, 89, a former resident of Grinnell, IA, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022, at Emerald Springs Assisted Living, in Yuma, AZ. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family online www.smithfh.com. Bob was born in Collins, IA, to Harvey and Gertrude Teed. He attended Lynnville-Sully Schools and after graduation, he married Ruby Faye Teed in Grinnell, IA, on August 1, 1952. One month later, he went to Korea to serve his country for two years. Once he returned, Bob and Ruby started a family on Hamilton Ave. in Grinnell. Dad worked at Donaldson's Manufacturing for 17 years and in 1965 they bought an acreage north of town. There they raised three daughters, Valerie, Robyn and Brenda. Bob quit Donaldson's and worked for a brief time as the Des Moines Register Manager in Grinnell. His true calling came when he decided to be his own boss and Robert Teed Construction was founded. He enjoyed his career very much and many residents of Grinnell can attest to his craftmanship. He was a jack of all trades and master of many. Bob and Ruby were long-time members of the Assembly of God Church. After retirement, Bob and Ruby became RV'ers and spent winters in Arizona to be close to Val and her family. They had several couples they would travel with and they loved it. As the years passed, Bob's favorite pastime was meeting his friends for coffee at Hardees or McDonalds. It was important to him and it was a sad day when he couldn't drive anymore. Bob and Ruby moved into Windsor Manor in 2014 after Ruby had her second stroke. When Ruby died in 2017, Bob moved to Emerald Springs Assisted Living Facility in Yuma, AZ. He lived there until his death. Bob is survived by his three daughters; Valerie (Chris) Moor of Yuma, AZ, Robyn Wingerter of Des Moines, IA, and Brenda Teed (Lisa Kormondy), of Rockaway, NJ; four grandchildren, Paige Moor of Yuma, AZ, Nick (Jaclyn) Moor of San Francisco, CA, Matthew (Amanda) Wingerter, Des Moines, IA, and Grant Wingerter, Des Moines, IA; three great-granddaughters, Everly and Adeline Wingerter of Des Moines, IA, and Oona Moor of Yuma, AZ; and one brother, Tommy Teed, of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Gertrude Teed; his wife, Ruby Cooper Teed; sisters, Doris Hartley, and Wilma Thomas; and brother, Jake (Bud) Nichols.
