Obituary

Robert LeRoy Myren, 83, of Grinnell, IA passed away on April 6, 2024 surrounded by family at the

Bob was born on March 21, 1941 to Irvineus Sylvester and Mary Catherine (Graves) Myren in Sioux City,

IA. He graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1960. He then earned a BA in Elementary Education at

Lakeland College in Wisconsin. Bob taught elementary school, moved to New York as a buyer for Kinney's

Shoes, then came back to Iowa to teach. In 1973, Bob came home and announced he was called to

change his life. He started Dubuque Seminary and earned a Master's of Divinity degree. Bob led

congregations in Potosi, WI, Sibley, IA, Clarksville, IA, the Cheyenne Reservation, Davenport, IA and

Nashua, IA. He retired after 45 years in the ministry. He and Linda moved to Grinnell in 2017.

On June 4, 1961 Bob was married to Linda Holtz at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, IA. They were

proud parents of Steven, Lori, David and Bobbi Jo.

Bob enjoyed music, singing, camping, clowning, swimming, cooking, playing cards and socializing. He

loved being with his grandchildren. Bob was known for being handy with tools and having a versatile set

of skills. He and Linda built their own home from plumbing and electrical work to refinishing fine

woodwork.

Bob adapted well to new situations, loved every job he ever held, and really cared about everyone. He

cried easily, readily offered praise, and taught his family that caring about others is the primary

responsibility of every human.

Caron) Myren-Manbeck of Saint Louis Park, MN, David (Dr. Sharon Doerre) Myren of Austin, TX, and

Katherine Myren-Manbeck, Adrienne Myren-Manbeck, Alexander Myren, Raiya Myren, William Myren,
