Robert Richy Kammerer, 72, of Grinnell, died on Friday, April 20, 2024, at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Hospital. Smith Funeral Home is assisting with cremation.

Robert was the eldest child of Robert A. and Phyllis (Krabbenhoft) Kammerer and was born in Iowa City, IA on August 21, 1951.

On October 31,1987, Bob married Debra Mueller from Long Prairie, MN. The wedding was held at Herrick Chapel in Grinnell Iowa. They had one son Erik Robert Kammerer.

He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1969 and was a US Army Veteran.

Bob was a tremendously kind person and memorable father. He was "one of kind" with an amazing sense of humor and love that touched so many people. Bob was an entertaining storyteller with incredible life stories to share with family and friends.

He loved all animals, especially his cats.

Bob liked motorcycles and guns.

He was one of the most loyal fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Oakland Raiders.

Bob loved to read with two of his favorite authors being Robert Heinlein and Hunter S. Thompson.

He liked Chuck Norris, William Shatner, the Earp Brothers, and Doc Holliday.

Bob will be missed.

Bob is survived by his son Erik Kammerer, his brother Jeff Kammerer and two sisters Lacene Kammerer and Jody Kammerer Jones.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Phyllis Kammerer and brother Tim Kammerer.
