Memorials may be designated to the Robert T. Kaloupek Memorial Fund to benefit the Grinnell United Methodist Church, Grinnell Regional Medical Center and the Grinnell Lion's Club. Bob was born the son of William and Grace Thomas Kaloupek on September 20, 1927 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised in Grinnell and he graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1945. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a Communications Technician Second Class from 1945 until 1949. Following his military service he attended Grinnell College. Due to injuries he received in a car accident while attending Grinnell College, Bob became disabled and then attended the University of Illinois, Champaign and through the Rehabilitation and Education Program, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing. He was united in marriage to Marjory Reeves on February 16, 1961 at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell. Bob served as the Poweshiek County Treasurer in the early 1960's and then was the secretary of the Grinnell Schools before his employment at Grinnell Regional Medical Center as comptroller in the 1980's. Bob was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and he was treasurer of the church and the church foundation. He also was a member of the Grinnell Lion's Club and he served as treasurer since 1994. His other accomplishments were serving on the Human Rights Commission and serving as president of the board of Mid-Iowa Workshop in Marshalltown. His enjoyments included reading, watching NASCAR races on television, fishing and working on his computer. Bob is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Marjory Kaloupek of Grinnell; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Howell Porter of Sterling, Virginia; and his niece and nephew. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, William Eugene Kaloupek.
