Robert Lawrence Jacobs, 88, of Ladora, IA passed away on April 8, 2026 at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, IA.

Robert was born on April 20, 1937 to Lawrence and Violet (Barnett) Jacobs in Marengo, IA. He grew up in Marengo and graduated from Marengo High School.

On April 5, 1958, Robert was united in marriage to Sharon Denzler at First United Methodist Church in Marengo. To this union the coupe had three daughters, Chris, Sue and Carmen.

Robert was a lifelong farmer. He was active in local antique tractor rides and was fond of his horses. He would take his horses on many camping trips to with his daughters, and his grandchildren. Once he was unable to ride, he traveled with his mule teams, offering wagon train rides in Texas, South Dakota, and Georgia. Robert and Sharon wintered in Globe, Arizona for 11 years. The couple took many 4x4 Ranger rides on gravel and dirt roads.

Robert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sharon Jacobs, his daughters, Chris (Mark) McGrory, Sue (Jay) Ballard, and Carmen (Kevin) Hulsebus, his grandchildren, Alyssa Blood, Erin Riffel, Jared McGrory, Scott Ballard, Ashley Meinhart, Nicole Hulsebus, and Shelby Hulsebus, his great-grandchildren, Gage Riffel, Finn Riffel, Dena Meinhart, Ember Meinhart, Travis Ballard, Tyler Ballard, Layna Blood, Rorie Blood and Brylee Blood, his brother Dr. Orville (Ruth) Jacobs, his sisters-in-law, Norma Jacobs, and Sharon Denzler.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Wanda O'Dell, and Dixie Meeks, and brother, Kenny Jacobs.
