Obituary

Rick Storbeck, 70, of Grinnell died on January 7, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Storbeck Family in c/o Maryann Storbeck, 1217 3rd Avenue, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Rick was born on July 27, 1949, in Volga, Clayton County, Iowa, the son of Melvin and Evelyn Easton Storbeck. He was raised in Grinnell and received his education in the Grinnell School District. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and served in Germany. Rick was employed for G.T.E. as a computer technician where his work took him throughout Iowa. He retired in the late 1980's. On November 8, 1988, he was united in marriage to MaryAnn Ross, in Las Vegas. The couple continued to live in Grinnell where they owned and operated an antique store. They closed the store in 2002. Rick cared for his family deeply and enjoyed his life at home. He held a passion for computers, attending flea markets throughout the state, and collecting stamps and coins. He loved being outside with his dogs and gardening; and was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn of Grinnell; his daughter, Angie (Todd) Wilson of LeGrand; two step-children, Stephen Jacobs of Grinnell and Theresa Cline of Agency; two grandchildren, Luke and Josh Wilson; and three siblings, Monica (Mike) Ogan, Randy Storbeck, and Michael (Michelle) Storbeck, all of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents.
