Richard Wayne Pagel, 70, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at home. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Rock Creek Cemetery, Jasper County, IA. A reception will follow at the Grinnell Eagles Club. Richard was born to Merl Leo and Gladys Marie (Springer) Pagel in Grinnell, Iowa. Dick was raised on the farm and received his education in Grinnell-Newburg schools. Where he graduated with the class of 1969. On May 31, 1975, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Stewart in Grinnell. They had three sons, Travis Richard, Joshua Lee, and Ryan David. He worked as a farm hand and later for Manatt's as a road constructions operator where he retired in 2013. Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and canoeing many rivers with the love of his life, Betty Boop. Richard is survived by two sons, Travis (Diana) Pagel of Grinnell, and Joshua (Melissa) Pagel of Des Moines, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by both of his parents, and his wife Betty Ann in 2015, and son Ryan David in 1981. A graveside service at Rock Creek Cemetery and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
