Rex E. Murphy, 90, of Grinnell, IA passed away March 3, 2024, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, IA.

Rex was born on August 8, 1933, to Morris and Mary (Maffin) Murphy. He was educated in the Grinnell school district.

Rex worked in the autobody industry for over 33 years. He was employed at Pat Manning Chevrolet Garage until his retirement on January 1, 1993.

On October 17, 1964, Rex was united in marriage to Shirlee Taylor in Princeton, MO.

Rex was a big NASCAR fan. He enjoyed spending his Sundays watching the races, cheering for Kyle and Kurt Busch, and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Rex is survived by his wife, Shirlee; his children, Pam Yasinski of Farmersville, IL, Kathy Johnson of Springfield, IL, and Kelly Borgic of Newton, IL.

He was predeceased by his parents, daughter, Cathy Murphy, stepdaughter, Melodee Crawford, and stepson, Michael Rice.
