Obituary

Reggie was born on January 5, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa to Earl and Emily Sammons Campbell. He attended schools there and received his Associate of Arts from Des Moines Area Community College. He owned several different businesses, including Rent-A-Wreck, City Limits and Best Western. He retired from his position at Iowa Workforce Development. In August of 1987, Reggie married Darlene Walther and they shared many joyous occasions together, including the adoption of Jenny on her 16th birthday. He loved and cared for her until her death in May of 2002. Reggie found love again and on August 8, 2005, he married Sheila Goodrich in their home in front of the fireplace that he built. He held a great passion for cars, whether it was going to the car shows, restoring cars, or dealing the question of Ford vs. Chevy. Reggie liked country music and was a jack of all trades. He knew what 'playing' was and that you needed to play every day, either with a joke, a story or letting his children and grandchildren 'play' hostess or waitress. Reggie is survived by his wife, Sheila of Grinnell; four children, Cristina Jones of Dumont, Iowa, Carol 'Ike' Perdoma, Jenny (Jason) Shirk and Jessica Ahrens all of Grinnell. Also left to cherish his memory are eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darlene 'Dar' Campbell, his brother, Ralph 'Bo' Campbell and his sister, Thelma 'Sally' Crane. Memorials may be directed to the Reggie Lee Campbell Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
