Randy Lyle Nowotny, 74, of Victor, IA, passed away on August 3, 2024, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo, IA. Born on April 6, 1950, in Grinnell, IA, son of Harold and Verneta (Gorsh) Nowotny.

Randy graduated from HLV High School in 1969. He married Cynthia Madison and to this union they had one son, Seth and one daughter, Mara. The couple were later divorced. He later married Colleen Price and to this union they had one son, Adam. The couple were later divorced. Randy spent his life nurturing the land practicing organic farming. He raised cattle and sold his produce and baked goods at local farmers markets, where he enjoyed connecting with the community. Randy was also a skilled woodworker, he crafted candle holders, furniture, and countless memories for family and friends. He also enjoyed hunting. Randy was known for his free spirit and ability to engage with everyone he met.

He is survived by his children, Adam (Amber) Nowotny of Cedar Rapids, IA, Seth Madison of Blairstown, IA, and Mara Tarp of Watertown, WI; grandchildren Damien, Aiden, Lillith, and Osiris Nowotny, Nathan Reynolds, McKenna Madison, and Logan and Scarlett Tarp; and his brother, Marty (Terri) Nowotny of Victor, IA. Randy also leaves behind nieces and nephews Catherine Varo, Christopher Nowotny, Alexander Nowotny, Andrew Nowotny, and Jonathon Nowotny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Verneta Nowotny, and his niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Matthew Nowotny.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Smith Funeral Home in Victor, IA, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will take place at Victor Memorial Cemetery.
