Randall J. Tew, born April 19, 1952, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, at the age of 72 with his daughters by his side.
Randy graduated from The University of Iowa, then joined the Air Force and was stationed all over the world. After his retirement from the military he moved to Mary Esther, Florida where he owned and operated his own lawn care and home improvement business. He resided in Mary Esther for over 30 years.
Those that knew Randy would say his calling was to be Santa Claus. He played the part of Santa all over the US, on military bases and in a few other countries. Randy was a lifetime boy scout and helped with his daughter's girl scout troops as well.
Randy is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Mary (Tew) and Gordon Alford, Lisa (Tew) and Nick Delappa, his two grandchildren, Sophia and Sawyer Delappa, his three sisters and spouses, Judy and Dave Richards, Barb and Bruce Anderson, Carolyn and Tim Wilson along with many nephews and nieces, four great nephews and two great-great nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his wife Karen; his parents Clayton and Bonnie Tew, and his brother Jerry.
His funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell, Iowa on June 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., and a celebration of life being held in Mary Esther, Florida in July.
A visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on June 17, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a local non-profit helping ensure kids have a Christmas to honor his 52 years of service as Santa.
