Phyllis was born on July 22, 1933, on the family farm near Malcom, Iowa to Louis and Margaret Smith Ford. She was raised on a farm near Malcom and later attended school in Montezuma.
On February 14, 1949, she was married to Larry W. Hall in Brooklyn, Iowa. The couple resided in Montezuma and later moved to Malcom in 1951. Phyllis was a homemaker and mother of four children. She was a member of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, UPW and had served on the church board. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and shopping. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, preparing Sunday dinners and providing loving care to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children, Michael Hall of Malcom, Sherry (Robert) Gauley of Bloomington, IL, Pam (Nick) Cronbaugh of Hartwick and Lisa (Keith) Cable of Bryon, Georgia; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Marlou Goodrich of Ankeny and Mary (Jerry) Dale of Brooklyn, and one brother, David L. (Julie) Ford Marble Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother-in-law, Lewis Goodrich.
